I've started on a game that has neither a goal nor a name.
Spring break is here, I'm free. Here's a couple of updates:
Abandoned the space game
Planning to sign up for Google's Summer of Code
Tried to look for internships; failed
Started a new game
I've really only done the pixel art. I ought to work on game logic, or even figuring out how to make an inventory system, but that's pretty slow going. The three basic systems of my game include an inventory system, a buy and sell system, and a potion crafting system. Yet again, I do require a main point. Something mysterious I hope. The long-term goal is to have each potion crafting recipe require the completion of a minigame.
AI Takeover
I've been more and more reliant on AI for most things. I notice my brain yearning to ask AI about a problem if I'm stuck. Even on problems where AI is useless. Although I find AI to be a very useful and mostly helpful tool, it easily picks up where my brain decides to drop off. This is teaching my brain to be stupider I think. I'm not sure what the answer is and I'm too tired to think about a solution. To be fair, it is pretty late at night.
Using Time Well
I'm really looking to use my time more efficiently. I'm not sure how my screen time was today, but I still use Instagram and TikTok as an emotional and mental pillow. I'd like to be able to get a lot of use out of one hour without getting burned out. I really want to pour myself into game design during spring break.
Setting a Goal
I will create a completed game that uses this idea and art.
It's okay if it sucks, has no point, is boring, or doesn't make sense. But it must be complete.
